Let The Festivities BeginMitsubishi Motors 4th Annual Mitsubishi Owner's Day was held on Saturday, July 19 at the Mitsubishi corporate headquarters in Cypress, Calif. MOD has quickly established itself as the largest yearly Mitsubishi gathering since 2005 when the Mitsubishi Research and Design team decidedly held its first owner's event as a way to express their appreciation toward vehicle owners and faithful alike. Mitsubishi fanatics from all over the country came out in full force to represent the Galants, Starions, 3000GTs, Monteros, and Evos, as a staggereing 800 cars lined the parking lots of corporate headquarters at the crack of dawn. Vendor participation nearly doubled in size from last year's event. The more relaxed outdoor atmosphere offered ample time for attendees to ask various questions or educate themselves on new and upcoming products.

The event showcased a number of historical vehicles, ranging from a flawless, green '73 Galant FTO to a '84 Group A Rally all-wheel-drive Starion, using a trick oil cooler system integrated into the rear wing of the vehicle. No car, however, gained as much attention as the Protoype Mitsu, which was curtained off from curious onlookers. Numerous raffle prizes were awarded to attendees as vendors donated thousands of dollars in parts, including camshafts and Camp2 systems, complements of HKS USA. The MOD event wouldn't be complete without a car show. Thousands of cars battled for prizes and bragging rights to own the Best Vehicle award. The success of last year's "Dyno Shootout Competition" brought the competition out one more time. Word quickly spread throughout the day about a stock Evo IX that belted out 385 whp on the Road Race Engineering-sponsored shootout dynapacks using only E85 along with some custom tuning. The Highest Horsepower award evaded one Mitsubishi 3000GT owner as the engine grenaded on the dynapacks and was quickly pushed aside to make room for the rest of the competitors. If you missed out on the festivities, be sure to check out next year's event.
