On May 3, the Long Beach City College parking lot played host to the most anticipated event dedicated to all things Toyota.
From past to present, Toyota owners came out in full force, representing vehicles from the ultra rare '58 Toyopet and '67 2000GT to the more luxurious Lexus GS430 and affordable Scion xB.
Old-school nostalgia is the typical theme for this annual event. Old-school and new school car enthusiasts intertwine to share their common passion of Toyota's since Toyota Motor Sales first began selling the Toyopet to the general public on Oct. 31, 1957. Times have definitely changed since 1958 when Toyota managed to sell only 287 Toyopet Crown sales, including one Land Cruiser. Since then, Toyota has become the dominant force in the car sales industry, knocking out the once mighty Ford and GM brands from the top of the totem pole. With the import market in a current influx, it's nice to know that the popular old-school cars like the Toyota Sprinter KE25 Mango and first-generation Celica's A20/35 Series (1970 to 1977) are still embraced by both young and old alike.
