Constantine Shulikov
Gladstone, Ore.
1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse
The joys of owning a turbocharged DSM aren't easily lost on Constantine Shulikov, who owns this Eclipse Spyder. Of course, Shulikov believes stock cars are boring and quickly went about customizing the Eclispe.
The first round of mods was aimed at body styling. Things were kept simple and clean so as not to attract too much attention from the authorities. First off, Shulikov added a Wings West three-piece rear wing with LED. Next, the mirrors were replaced with APC M3-style mirrors. Altezza-style taillights replace the boring stock units. Clear bumper lights and Xenon headlights round out the lighting department, while all emblems were shaved to give the car a nondescript appearance.
Inside, the stereo has been upgraded with a Sony Xplod deck connected to Infinity speakers all throughout the cabin. Various trim pieces have been painted to match the car's color scheme as well.
Under the hood, Shulikov has installed platinum spark plugs all fed spark by 8mm Accel plug wires. Suspension duties are handed off to a set of H&R lowering springs and rolling stock consists of 17x7-inch Knig Reigns wrapped in 215/45R-17 Road Rage tires.
Michael Anderson
E. Northport, N.Y
1997 Honda Prelude
Having a Prelude has its ups and downs. Some of the ups include being a part of the Honda/Acura craze and the downs include not having a huge variety of parts to choose from when it comes time to up the ante. Either way, Michael Anderson bears with it like a champ and loves his car like none other.
To get things going, Anderson decided the suspension should be the first thing he addressed. In this department, he's added a set of Neuspeed Racing springs to lower the car and stiffen the ride. Keeping spring oscillation under control is a set of Tokico gas shocks. Rolling stock consists of 16-inch Motegi Racing wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes.
Anderson added an AEM intake to increase the flow of fresh air into the engine. A DC Sports exhaust with 2-inch Brospeed pipe ushers the spent fumes on their merry way.
In the appearance department, Anderson upgraded the taillights with Altezza-style units. Up front, a set of OBX fog lights keep the road well lit for late night jaunts. A Viper alarm system keeps the car secure, while EL dash gauges help Anderson keep an eye on what's going on under the hood.
Dave Snider
West Jordan, VT.
1995 Nissan 240SX SE
Dave Snider's main goal with his 240SX is to get attention. Not from the authorities, but from passers-by and enthusiasts alike. The real work all went into making this car stand out from the more pedestrian 240SXs on the road.
Under the hood, Snider has added an Injen intake to free the restriction of the stock unit. On the exhaust side, a Borla muffler opens up the exhaust and exits through a 5-inch tip. Suspension tweaks include Eibach 2-inch drop springs and a Stillen front strut tower bar, while rolling stock is comprised of American Racing 17-inch Pinzeti's wrapped with Bridgestone Potenzas, sized 215/45R-17. Putting the whoa on the go are Stillen cross-drilled rotors.
Inside, there's little done outside of the Momo race pedals, shifter and race pedals. Snider paint-matched various trim pieces with the exterior paint job. Outside, Snider's Nissan is host to a Bomex body kit and an 11-inch aluminum adjustable wing. Porsche Arctic silver pearl paint was then applied to further emphasize the 240SX's bodylines.
